Bullmeister

German trio Bullmeister are one of those bands that it’s hard not to watch with a smile on your face; an energetic outfit with life-affirming electro-pop their modus operandi. Berlin boys Daniboi, Sam & Costa channel the best bits of bands like Phoenix, Goose and Fenech-Soler and combine it with their fiery Teutonic attitude to create a sound that’s full of big hooks and riffs, pummelling dance beats and vocals that are swooning and fierce by turns. They are testament to how far electronic pop music has come in recent years. Their gigs never fail to live up to their spunky sound, a riot of flashing LEDs, Jägermeister and Daniboi’s style on the mic is nothing but commanding. It’s no coincidence that the house masters Tiefschwarz roped him in to sing two tracks on their latest album Chocolate.

Yeah! Woho!

Sun is shining, spring is here soon and we got you some fresh sounds from Sweden! No Swedish house here, but some bass heavy club vibes from a Top Billin family member Yeah! Woho! aka Marcus, who’s done remixes for us in the past and now it’s time to unleash his debut ep on Top Billin. This is some serious club business.

“Marcus Rombo was born in Eskilstuna, Sweden. He first discovered DJ culture at the early age of thirteen after reading an interview with Canadian turntablist Kid Koala. He later switched his focus to house music thanks to a local DJ.”

Thank gods of house music for this because this one hell of a debut. Remixes come from no other than Top Billin family members Canblaster, Dillon Francis, Cobra Krames and Top Billin chief Sir Nenis.

Munchi + Crookers

Crookers remixed Munchi’s “Shottas” featuring Mr Lexx! And lucky for you they’re giving it away for free!

As many of you know, Munchi suffered a seizure while on tour in Hawaii two weeks ago. He was in a coma for 9 hours and in the hospital for 11 days. The seizure was the result of a intracerebral hemorrhage in the left side of his brain, with no prior history of illness. He’s doing a lot better now, out of the hospital and resting up. Yesterday we started a fundraiser and raised over $5000, bought Munchi a flight home to Rotterdam and covered the cost of his meds. My feelings for She Wants Revenge were always neutral. All of my friends were super fans back in the day but I just didn’t get won over. It looks like the group is finally coming out with a new album and I might actually enjoy this one. I’m the kinda guy that gets into the popular groups late and the soon-to-be popular groups way too early. I guess that’s the ‘hipster’ in me. Whatev.

As we say goodbye to winter it’s time for Anoraak to shine again and warm us up with his infectious new single ‘Crazy Eyes’. Dropping on Grand Blanc / naïve this March, Crazy Eyes is a catchy sun-soaked slice of electro-pop. With a distinct 80’s feel, Frederic has yet again delivered the perfect soundtrack to those warm summery days!

Fresh from smashing Camden Crawl’s Tips where he caught the eye of Topshop fashion bloggers in the know, Anoraak has been a name on everyone’s lips of late. Described by Clash as ‘an essential electronic act for the future’, big things are predicted for this French producer who was also recently launched into Hype Machine’s 10 Most Blogged Artists. First appearing on our radar back in 2008 with the influential and still relevant Nightdrives With You EP – his well-balanced mix of pop sensibilities and songwriting craftsmanship paved the way for the resurgence of the French electronic sound on the global music stage. His artist album ‘Wherever The Sun Sets’ released in 2010 received rave reviews from fans and critics alike, with Shortlist simply summing it up as ‘Ambient electronica of the highest order’.

Crazy Eyes is presented with a handful of pleasing remixes delivered by fellow Valerie member Russ Chimes, Swedish duet Pacific! and Soundcloud remix contest winner Julien Mier. To top it off Anoraak also did his own disco rework of the original!
