HAUS MUSIC

I’ve never been a fan of Danny Tenaglia, nor have I ever been a huge fan of über soulful progressive house vocals. Sometimes they’re clever and fun, think of Stardust and Modjo, but most of the time its pretty gay. Yeah, I know, its not cool of me to say ‘gay’. But you know what? I have lots of gay friends! Take that awesome comeback! Now that I think about it, I think I just don’t like most female vocals in house music. I always like the tracks where the dudes are belting it out.

Okay, anyways, I do like house music. How can you not like house music? Disco house, Dutch house, House House… Shit’s raw. Not really but house music is the shit. Breakdown does a great job with taking the track and making it a little more new and fresh and I can see the track being dropped in sets of all different scenes.

PUNCHES gives me exactly what I need today with these 3 tracks. The Jackie Wilson remix is tops. I remember hearing it for the first time in Ghostbusters II. 1989 was a good year for movies.

Composed of twin brother DJ’s Finger on the Pulse and Alan Astor. PUNCHES is united by a common goal to get you moving. The sound is dynamic and fresh, heavily influenced by disco vibes with indie elements. They have produced original tracks featuring Alan Astor on vocals, as well as an official remix for indie pop sweethearts Au Revoir Simone. The Lolla Remix Throwdown, Lollapalooza’s annual remix competition, has announced its four finalists – DJWS (Chicago), Lucky Date (Chicago), Craig Williams (Los Angeles) and Professor Purple (Pittsburgh). Selected from nearly 400 competitors via two rounds that pitted their production skills against public voting and a judges’ panel, these four will now battle live in Chicago on Sunday, August 1st at the FREE Lolla Live Finals at Double Door. Also supporting the night are Hot Pink Delorean, Hey Champ (live set) and Punky Fresh, last year’s contest winners.

Normally known for their dance floor bangers, Chewy Chocolate Cookies sent over a track that most djs would throw on to get the floor putting their hands up, anticipating the drop that never really comes. I guess that’s what the next track is for. Surprise that dancefloor.
