Square Frames was born out of our frustration with modern dance production, which tended to favour software synthesizers and plugins above true analog sound. Stocking up on Joe Meek Compressors, Neumann Microphones, analog synthesizers, and a host of outboard gear, we built a small studio in Chicago’s Ukrainian Village with the intent of the producing remixes that we would want to play out ourselves.
