Chromeo, Snowden Remix EP

Chromeo

So, Chromeo has a new album coming out soon… well, this summer.

Chromeo’s mission is to make slick-ass lovers funk with nary a trace of irony. Thats right no fucking irony. These guys are to Rockwell what Andrew WK is to Meatloaf. And dont call it easy retro, either. Dave 1 attests: Sure our sound is vintage and danceable. Sure all our songs talk about girls. But were so passionate about it that its not even funny anymore. Chromeos authenticity is only reinforced by the goldplated list of musicians who have already supported them.

LCD Soundsystem

I think this week will be video week. I am always late on knowing about videos because I don’t really keep up with them. Was just told that there’s a video for the new LCD Soundsystem single “North American Scum”. I wish it involved more aluminum robots but space men are good too!

New Client video, Klaxons

Back in the day I remember getting a package from Mute Records with two CDs in it, one of them being the debut release from Client. The other cd has nothing to do with this story (but it was the first T.Raumschmiere cd). That first cd was pretty great. We played it in the clubs all the time and listened to it in my car even more. The release of City was pretty exciting although I just didn’t find myself getting in to it as much. I think that I had worn myself off of Client. Don’t get me wrong, I just pressed play on City again and it’s much better now because I haven’t really listened to Client at all in the past year or two. I had no idea that they had a new EP, Zerox Machine, until this weekend. I just listened to it and I don’t find myself excited at all. The remixes are rather dull to me because they sound too much like Client. I’d like to hear someone like VanShe Tech get ahold of it or Alan Braxe or something. With all of that said I am still curious to hear anything else that they have coming.

I got this email this weekend with a new Client video in it. It’s not as cool as the video for Radio. It’s for a new song, “Drive”.

I also got sent this video. It’s not for Client, but for the Klaxons. Gotta love the Klaxons! “Golden Skans” video:

Brice Lee, New songs in rotation

Brice Lee

From their myspace page: “Here it is, straight from Paris : Brice Lee’s explosive, bouncy house tunes are of the kind that shorten conversations and fill up dance floors. Bouncy basses, irressistible beats and those crunchy beeps and blips that send shivers down your spine and warm up your muscles ! Yes, it IS funky, but with a touch of sheer class, like Marcellus Wallas in Pulp Fiction or Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights… After Brice Lee’s tunes appeared in the Kia Picanto TV ad, the carmakers website was flooded with hundreds of mails from desperate TV viewers dying to know what the f… the track behind the ad was ! Feel good music, thats what it is, combining the vibe of a mad club party and the warmth of guitar strumming on a tropical beach… Why choose between party and trendy, when you can have it both ways ? Brice Lee is the sound electronica had been waiting for!”
I just really love this song.

Shout Out Out Out Out

Shout out out out out = two drummers + four bass players + two samplers + five synthesizers + one vocoder. volatile dance music.

Shout Out Out Out Out

Nrmls Wlcm has this to say about Shout out out out out: Shout out out out out is made up of nrmls wlcm label bosses Nik Kozub and Jason Troock, whitey houston members Lyle Bell and Gravy, sketchy casanova Will Zimmerman, and a lil’ spazz named Clint Frazier. They are a live spectacle, leaving jaws dropped and dance floors filled with their chaotic blend of epic bumpin’. Hell yes, let us do the electro rock and dance the night away.

Robotic Radio has this to say about Shout Out Out Out Out: Hell yes.

Coming off a long day at work I get home to find a 12 pack of PBR sitting on my porch. I love valentines. Also found out that Scissors for Lefty has been added to the Snowden show in March. I can’t wait for that show. Can’t wait at all. All this is on March 11th at the Mooch & Burn in Tulsa. Go. Dance Robots, Dance! is playing too! If you don’t know about Snowden or Scissors for lefty I suggest you inform yourself. Here is a Snowden remix by Le Castle Vania. He’s pretty rad too.

Anyways…

Step back a couple years to when I was still doing stuff with Electrocore.com and it was pretty much a hot spot for indie kids to check for indie groups, you would have found Automatic Panic. Back then I enjoyed his stuff but there just wasn’t something right about it. Now fast forward to 2006. I got back in touch with AP and re-discovered quite a gem. What I hear coming from my speakers makes me grin. Now it’s 2007 and I find this video on his myspace. This video that I had to watch a couple times. I also get a song in my email’s inbox. A song I listened to a few times as well.
This will be your new favorite video for the day.

Automatic Panic is from Texas, I think. His myspace says nothing about him. I can’t find the old information that I used to have on him from electrocore.com. This is an awesome remix he did for the band De-Fault and one of his songs I’ve had for a long time.

De-Fault - “eine weitere Stunde (with Automatic Panic)”

If you’re in Oklahoma there is a bunch of stuff going on. Check out all the events on the Dance Robots, Dance! myspace and the myspace for the Mooch & Burn. Also, every Wednesday night in Oklahoma City is Robotic Wednesdays at Electro Lounge. Every Thursday is Dance From Above Thursdays at the Mooch & Burn. Just a bit of fun trivia for you.

Local music rules

Instead of trying to pick one of these new tracks to try and see if you haven’t heard it i’m going to present you with local music from oklahoma instead. Ha! There’s a bunch of bands that i want to talk about but i’m just going to pick a couple… mainly because i actually have these tracks available here to upload.

Stevedore

First off is Stevedore.

Where would the world be without Stevedore? I don’t know!
Their website says this about them: “To put simply, Stevedore is collaboration of art, music, and love. Many has tried to categorize these musics into some kind of a cage, but it is not possible. This is because these music is wild and not able to be tamed; and because love overpowers any cage, and any time, and any small minded person.”

The track is very 80s sounding. I’m no good at reviews. Anyways, you can catch b. & Kylie playing with Stevedore on Feb. 28th at Rehab Lounge in Tulsa.

Stevedore - “Tiny Thoughts”

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Buy their EP “Almost Beautiful” on the iTunes Music Store!
Stevedore - Almost Beautiful - EP

Elliott The Letter Ostrich

Elliott the Letter Ostrich is another band that pretty much rules. Not because they gave me a shirt with the grim reaper riding on a unicorn that is jumping over a rainbow but because they gave me a shirt with the grim reaper riding on a unicorn that is jumping over a rainbow!

Elliott the Letter Ostrich - “Love Song for the Walking Dead”

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Elliott is playing with members of Dance Robots, Dance! and Snowden at the Mooch & Burn on March 11th in Tulsa.

I Said Stop!

I Said Stop! is a younger band in Tulsa. When i say “younger” i don’t mean how long they’ve been around. They’ve been in the studio recording their debut EP. I got an early copy to put in rotation on Robotic Radio so i’ll share it with you now.

I Said Stop! - “Dr. Olandria”

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

The Stock Market Crash

The Stock Market Crash from Oklahoma City are pretty rad too. I don’t know much about them and my favorite song on this cd skips a little in the middle which makes me cry a bit.

The Stock Market Crash - “Bringing Knives To A Gunfight”

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

You can buy this awesome album on the iTunes Music Store, you know. The Stock Market Crash - Geology

Anyways, they’re playing at The Conservatory with DRD’s Joshua Distance this friday - Feb 16th. That’s in Oklahoma City.
